I do respect the sport. I won two Shotokan tournaments in the past.
But if you compare this no-contact karate-do of today to what they did in 1970s you’ll see a stark difference.
That was karate in a controlled environment. This is ping-pong. A ping-pong master is still a respectable athlete, no doubt.
Yes, MMA is a sport, but any full contact fighting system is way closer to reality.

you do realize that mma is still a controlled environment and that there are still rules and regulations. and it’s done for entertainment, too, which doesn’t reflect complete reality either. guns beat out a punch, sadly. you don’t know if they would be owned or not. many mma fighters began their path in the martial arts. it all adds up. but i can tell you that it still takes endurance and mental agility to react that way. respect the sport. would you please?

you do realize that, while they’re really fast and reactive, they never fight full contact, have no power behind their attacks whatsoever, and their distance is off by miles versus what’s required in full contact fighting? That, and a one-punch tactics that just does not work in reality?
They would last more than 2 seconds in the octagon. But they’d be owned in the end anyway.

That ain’t Kumite that’s postering!……..If 60 seconds go by and both guys are waiting for the other to attack then what you have is dancing, one has to create an opportunity to counter by creating the first strike! Karate is about defense and not offense! You use your Karate in defense of yourself and others, your not taught to attack first, but that makes Kumite tournaments a total contradiction to the principle of the art! Maybe that’s why they waiting on each other to strike first

In last second Busa did an mawashigeri what Aghayev blocked… then Aghayev did a gykutsuki jodan!!!!!!….
In my eye Aghayev won!!

I’m sure these guys would kick the shit out of me but to the untrained eye (my untrained eye) it looks more like dancing than fighting. I’ll stick with watching the likes of GSP etc in MMA.

You do realize these guys are some of the fastest most agile fighters in the world yes? You realize just because you dont see shit talking and blood doesnt mean they cant fight yes? Simple minded lol, do your research and stop watching spike tv for that retarded ass UFC bullshit.

Wouldn’t see that celebration of ME! in a Kendo tournament.
By lasomodako, August 16, 2013 @ 10:04 am
I prefer the fighters back in the early 80’s and 90’s (W.U.K.O. days). Fighters come to fight and not to dance around!
