for me it is not boring… and karate for me it is an art….. and a self defense…

  • By ian stephen mah, November 7, 2012 @ 2:39 pm

Karate is so boring…you are required repeat the same basic punches, same basic blocks, same basic stances, same basic kicks, you much trees, puching board, you practice everyday of your life…you must perform the same kata over and over again just to perfect. Is it not too boring? …If you can’t handle that don’t do karate, do something else. Karate is Karate. Karate is never a sport. Karate Sente Nashi. Oss!

Estimado Juan, no es que me equivoque, solamente es referirse a la labor del Maestro Kanazawa, claro que el Sensei Masao es extraordinario y gran instructor, no demerita el uno del otro, gracias por tu comentario, Oss !

Ok some say they are black belt, if one was a black belt he would be taught as a white belt with the years to follow that one never boast about being or stating karate is the best… It is an
art to be respected. The term I am a Black belt means one just went out to buy his belt. I am a follower of the martial ARTS forever on the path.

  • By hazor777, November 7, 2012 @ 4:23 pm

ahhh…the basics…..EVERY SHOTOKAN BLACK BELT needs to come back to the basics once in awhile……Osssss!

  • By Ignacio Garcia, November 7, 2012 @ 8:07 pm

  • By Ignacio Garcia, November 7, 2012 @ 8:41 pm

If you were trying to learn how to write, this would be the calligraphy, the way to practice so one day you can become a good writer. but calligraphy is not the end, the goal, but the medium to reach that goal. This video shows the calligraphy of shotokan karate. If you practice long enough you’ll understand what I just said.

    jijiij pero no entiendo nada.

I had nearly achieved shodan rank in Shotokan, but after repeatedly getting owned by my friends (one kung fu(mantis, monkey, hung gar and wing chun), and another boxing and krav maga) at sparring, I did some research and identified a number of concepts that have been distorted in modern karate from older(more practical) karate. Hikite, for example should not be executed on just any punch, but is only used as a grab and pull. don’t blindly accept your style, take only what is useful.

    Yes :)… Cruelty suits you.

  • By stray88, November 7, 2012 @ 11:54 pm

Hmm. If I had a dime for every passive-aggressive muay Thai nerd on youtube I think I could quit my day job. Thanks for the idea.

  • By DimebagVision, November 8, 2012 @ 12:08 am

It really was. If I had relied on their ‘techniques’ for years, i would have no problem getting humiliated in the streets. Luckily, I bash peoples faces in with great Muay Thai and Vale Tudo training =D

  • By stray88, November 8, 2012 @ 12:11 am

I see that Karate was too hard for you.
